About Russian Philosophy Forum

Welcome to Russian Philosophy Forum! We are an informal group of persons interested in Russian philosophy. Russians, Americans and West Europeans, our group includes both students and scholars. Our purpose is to expand transnational communication, education, research and publication in this field. You are invited to join us. We will provide access to a variety of ways of learning about and discussing Russian philosophy, past and present.

The Forum is being organized by several Russian, American and West European members of The Transnational Vladimir Solovyov Society, whose names and e-mail or fax addresses are listed below.

As this Forum develops, we will take advantage of the fact that we have Society founders and key representatives in Russia and Ukraine as well as England, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and the United States. Additional country representatives are expected to join these soon. At present we can correspond by e-mail or fax in English, French, German or Russian, though English will provide much faster replies and general communication.

The organization sponsoring both Russian Philosophy Forum and The Transnational Vladimir Solovyov Society is The Transnational Institute. The other Internet activity of the Transnational Institute is the new information service Russia on the Web.

Web Pages Related to Russian Philosophy

Another way that this forum can function is to provide links to web sites and papers in this field or to bibliographies. For example, right now you can receive a fine bibliography of the works of Nikolai Berdyaev, prepared by Fr. Steven Janos, by clicking on:

bulletBerdyaev Bibliography

We will also publish here a selection of papers in this field. Our first two selections  are:

bullet"Christian Politics: Vladimir Solovyov's Social Gospel Theology" by Greg Gaut
bullet"The Moscow 'Religious-Philosophical Vladimir Solovyov Society'" by Kristiane Burchardi (a history of the 1905-1918 Society of which today's Solovyov societies are successors).

If you know of other documents or papers in this field that exist at World Wide Web sites, please send us their URL addresses and we can provide links to them in this page. Click here for e-mail reply form. Only works in the public domain can be so referenced, not copyrighted material. Of course, even copyrighted material can be used if we have permission.

In sum, we anticipate establishing Internet and e-mail links with other groups interested in Russian philosophy, the Russian Orthodox Church and related aspects of Russian culture. When especially relevant, we will add their World Wide Web addresses in this section of our forum. As a preview of Web pages that we'll have in this section, we urge you to visit the following Web sites:
