Election of Officers -- The following positions are up for 2009 elections. President, Vice President, 3 Years at Large, Interpreter, Supervisor of Umpires A slate of officers will be presented by the Executive Board but nominations can be made from the floor for any of the positions. If the consititutional change is passed we will also have an opening for 1 year at large also. It must be noted that if you wish to be the Supervisor that the Executive Board has voted that this person will not be able to assign themselves to the semi or final games. They will be at Plymouth supervising the S and M tourney and should not be working games. 11. Old Business 12. New Business

New Hampshire Softball Umpire Association MINUTES OF Annual Meeting March 1, 2009 Winnisquam High School, Tilton, N.H.
Apprentice: Tom Ebol held the written portion of the 2009 Apprentice program. Report later in agenda Clinic: Glynn held clinic with special emphasis put on pitching rules. It was brought up to find out if we should hold the business meeting first. The membership said no. But it was agreed that future meeting will have the Supervisors and Evaluators report reported right after the Clinic and before role call. This was started at this year meeting. Supervisor Agreeing that we offer the NHIAA softball committee 3 umpires in the Quarters for the same amount of money. The Board whole heartily endorsed this. Pierre Lafitte reported on softball committee meeting 40-43 Pitching Distance not yet Show up 30-40 minutes before tournament games Check helmets and bats and make sure the right softball is being used During the season give enough time for warm ups is teams are late Stay a little longer for rain delays. Safety is still the major concern Line up card. You keep the hard copy if you can read them Lightning Thunder No matter how loud 30 minutes Proper attire for coaches -- ENFORCE Ejection player must be kept on the bench Noise from dugouts. Be aware of cheering from noise to distract players Fee for this year 78/58 Mileage over 40 miles
No C umpires got tournament games. Committee want double AA doing finals Dues next year 2010 $80 varsity and $60 for JV games Evaluations: In 2008 where done -- 102 evaluations 63 regular season and 32 post season – 16 individuals If any member wants to be evaluated contact Jim and he will send out a crew to evaluate them. The Associations goal is to make everyone a double AA Two assignors will show up and one will take the plate ump and the other the base ump. Minutes: Minutes of the March 2, 2008 meeting approved Treasurer Report: Hank Reported that as of Jan. 1, 2009 there was a balance of $9136.77 On hand March 1, 2009 $approximately $6500. Approved
Apprentice: 13 took course last year and are now 2009 members. 3 passed the 2008 written test and will take field test this year {2009} and will get on next year if pass. Harty, Peabody, Grenier 17 signed up for the program in 2009 and 16 took the test and 16 passed Regional Assignors: Region 1 Pittsburg was late but all games in now. Region Two set. Region 3 set except for JV games. Tom is not assigning and taking all games himself. All Region 4 games are assigned. Region 6 varsity games all sent out and accepted. JV games still need to be accepted. Region 7 all games sent out. A few games left to assign. Billy Mak Region 5. Had over 3,000 changes last year on the arbiter and feels it will be worst this year. You must have your NHIAA number on your name on the Arbiter or you not doing varsity games. No number means no insurance registration. There will be a 3 day wait when games are put on the arbiter and then you lose the game if it is not accepted. Constitution: Add Evaluation Chair to the Executive Board. Change approved to add Supervisor of Evaluations: Also it was noted that the Constitution will be changed to note that e-mail will be accepted for future notification. President Report: Concerned about phone numbers and how to be reached by the AD when games are cancelled A special thanks from the EB to Norm for his past two years as President. Election: The EB submitted the following slate of officers and it was moved and approved. 2yrs- President Jim Rivers Vice President Duane Welch 3yrs at large John Simon 1yr at Large Terry Warren Supervisor of Umpires Pierre Lafitte. Assigning Chair Billy Mak. Plaque was not available for Norm and will be sent to him. Jim Rivers introduced as the New President. Old Business: none New Business: Discussion of new shirt. Like the baseball board. The light shirt is our official shirt. The blue shirt will be worn if both umpires have the shirt and agree to wear it. No mix and matches. Passed and will be optional. Contact Tom Ebol for shirts. Two distributors can sell the shirt. Please note that the light blue is our official shirt and will still be used for tournament games. Sending our Interpreter to the Nationals every other year and the cost not to exceed $800.00. The NHIAA has supported paying ½ of the expense. This will be discussed at the meetings each time the interpreter is attending the Nationals. The membership approved this. Super Assignor: Bill Mak spoke about this new super assignor for the NHIAA. He feels it is at least 4 year down the road. Bill is a member of the committee and will keep us informed.
