Welcome to ValleyNet : ValleyNet KnowledgeBase : Windows Tips - Hints for Working with Windows PCs : Speeding up Windows - Quick Launch
Speeding up Windows - Quick LaunchThe Start Menu is a great place to put programs, but for the small number of programs you use most, the Quick Launch bar is even easier and more convenient. Quick Launch is an extension to the Windows interface installed by IE4 and Windows 98. By default, IE4 puts on the toolbar links to IE, Outlook Express, your channels, and a button called Show Desktop that minimizes all programs. You can remove any of these links by right-clicking on them and selecting Delete. To add new links to the toolbar, drag shortcuts (from the desktop or other folders) to the bar. Try not to add too many shortcuts to the Quick Launch bar; it will slow down system start-up.
