You can add additional email addresses in to your ValleyNet Message Center, so that mail sent to those other addresses will also get filtered and checked for viruses. Visit your Message Center; once you're in there, click on the Account Settings in the upper right-hand corner and then click on Add Additional Email Addresses. This is where you need to add your nickname addresses (in their full form - if your email address is william.b.smith@valley.net, and you sometimes use will.smith@valley.net as an email address, enter the additional address exactly that way.)

The Message Center will send you a confirmation to which you will need to respond for each address you add.

You can look at some of the junk mail you are being sent to see which variations on your full address are being used.
