Fraudulent eBay, Amazon.com, CitiBank, and PayPal emails

There are fraudulent emails making the rounds, purporting to be from eBay, from shipping@amazon.com, from CitiBank, and from PayPal, some of which ask members to confirm their name, password, credit card, and/or PIN numbers. THESE ARE SCAMS. Do NOT follow directions to a website that you receive in an email, to confirm or change your eBay or PayPal password, if you get one of these email messages. These are attempts to acquire passwords, credit card numbers, and even your ATM PIN number. Even though these link to sites that look like the real sites, they are fraudulent. Most legitimate vendors never sends out email requests for passwords or credit card numbers. You can find more information at the eBay Security center, at the Consumer Alert link at the Citibank site, and at the PayPal security center.
In general, if you get an email from some financial arganization asking for your account information, best thing to do is to visit their "official" website (not necessarily the website address you find in the email) to see if what you received by email was a legitimate request.
