Welcome to ValleyNet : ValleyNet KnowledgeBase : Security : Sasser Worm Information
Sasser Worm InformationThere is a brand-new virus on the internet as of 1 May 2004 called the "Sasser" worm. It causes the machine to shut down unexpectedly with an error message; sometimes the machine then reboots and shuts down repeatedly. The "Sasser" worm that emerged on the Internet this weekend can infect a Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer connected to the internet, even if no one is using it. It only affects computers with Windows XP or Windows 2000.For more information visit this Symantec webpage about the Sasser worm. Microsoft has a page on the symptoms of this problem and what to do if you think you have it; visit the Microsoft - What You Should Know About the Sasser Worm and Its Variants page.
We are making a virus removal tool and the appropriate Microsoft Windows security patch available on CD at the ValleyNet offices for a $5 donation if you need it. We can mail you a CD for $10.
