Summer 2003There is a new very dangerous email virus called Sobig that is now making the rounds. It is quite dangerous to computers using the Windows operating systems.

Your Message Center will block emails with viruses coming from outside the ValleyNet system, but there are lots of other ways that this virus can get onto your computer. Visit this Symantec page about the Sobig virus for more information about the virus and for information about their free software tool to check your machine.

As always, we recommend that you run a good anti-virus software program on your computer and that you keep it current with regular update downloads. It's also very important that you never open an email attachment that you are not actually expecting, as these viruses can send emails with viruses in them that appear to come from people you know.
