Identity Theft

Question: I keep hearing about Identity Theft on the Internet - what's it all about?

Identity Theft is a big problem, and doesn't happen just on the Internet. If the wrong people get hold of your Social Security number, your bank account or credit card number, your telephone calling card number, or other valuable identifying data, they can use that data to access your bank and credit accounts and even to create new accounts in your name.
What to do? The Department of Justice has a good site dealing with identity theft and what to do about it - and they have a quick Identity Theft checklist of ways to avoid the problem. Take a look now- it could save you lots of trouble down the road.
