''Goner'' virus
December 2001 Computers infected with the Goner virus, or W32/Goner@MM send out emails saying How are you ? When I saw this screen saver, I immediately thought about you I am in a harry, I promise you will love it!. The virus message also contains an enclosure with the filename GONE.SCR, which, if opened, infects the host machine. For more information, and for a free software tool to delete this virus, visit this Symantec page.
What to do? Obtain and keep up to date a good anti-virus program to keep your machine from becoming infected. Do not open e-mail enclosures unless it is something you are expecting to receive and if it is from someone you know. Because BlitzMail does not automatically open enclosures, it may be a safer email program for you to use than Outlook or Outlook Express.
