'W32.Badtrans.B@mm' virus

September 2001Computers infected with the W32.Badtrans.B@mm virus send out emails to recipients in the Outlook Express address book. If you receive email enclosures that have a .scr or .pif suffix on the filename, they are most likely from a machine infected with this virus. Visit this Symantec page for more on this one.
What to do? Obtain and keep up to date a good anti-virus program to keep your machine from becoming infected. Do not open e-mail enclosures unless it is something you are expecting to receive and if it is from someone you know. Because BlitzMail does not automatically open enclosures, it may be a safer email program for you to use than Outlook or Outlook Express.
