Lightning Storms
Whenever there is a rip-snorter of a lightning storm, we get several support calls that begin something like "ever since the lightning storm I can't connect...". Lightning storms can damage computers and electronics plugged into the power lines, and can also damage modems and phone equipment connected to the phone line. Our best advice when a lighnting storm begins is to unplug computers and modems from the power line and from the phone line (and from any network connection). Electronic devices have the best chance of surviving a lightning storm if they are disconnected from everything (even each other).
