Changing from a scripted to a non-scripted dial-in connection

Certain kinds of connection need a connection script to be configured, and other connections do not. If you are dialing into one of ValleyNet's 56k digital lines your connection will authenticate faster and will be more stable if you remove the connection script from your dial-up configuration. Here's how to do it:

Windows95, Windows98:

1. Double click on My Computer
2. Double click on Dialup Networking folder
3. Right click on the connection icon
4. Click on the Server Types tab and UNcheck "Log onto Network"
5. Click on the Scripting tab and delete the script file
6. Click on OK and then close the window

WindowsME:

1. Click on Start -- Settings -- Dialup Networking
2. Right click on the connection icon
3. Click on the Server Types tab and UNcheck "Log onto Network"
4. Click on the Scripting tab and delete the script file
5. Click on OK and then close the window

WindowsXP:

1. Click on Start -- Connect To
2. Click on Properties
3. Click on the Security tab
4. Delete the Run Script checkmark and script file

Macintosh using the ConfigPPP control panel.

1. Open Apple Menu - Control panels - ConfigPPP
2. Click on Config
3. Click on Authentication
4. Make sure that their username and password (dots) are in the Authentication window; click ok (or done)
5. Click on Connection Script
6. Set left column all to "out"; set right column all to "unchecked"; set all middle column text boxes to blank
7. Ok (or done); then ok (or done) again.
8. Close ConfigPPP control panel

Macs with PPP control panel and Macs with Remote Access control panel

1. Open PPP or Remote Access control panel
2. Click on Options button
3. Click on Protocol tab at top
4. Uncheck the "connect to a command line host" setting
5. close out, save settings
