ECFiber ValleyNet is working with The East Central Vermont Community Fiber Network
to bring high-speed fiber-optic networking to 22 towns in Vermont.
We're working to create a state-of-the-art high-speed network to carry
cable television, telephone, and broadband Internet service to every
home, business, and municipal office and school in each of these
communities.
Community Discussion Lists In its
mission to help facilitate conversation and communication among
community members, ValleyNet manages several discussion forums for
towns and special interest groups. The ValleyNet Business Directory is a great way to find local businesses and their website, email, and contact information. Need a forester? how about a place for lunch, or an electrician? Check out the ValleyNet Business Pages.
Computer and Electronics Recycling Visit our Recycling Computers and Electronics page for information on recycling and re-using electronics and computers. It's important to keep electronics and computers out of the waste stream; not only do they add unecessary waste to landfills, but many of their parts can be re-used or recycled, which makes it possible to reduce the need for new raw materials. Community Technology Center The Upper Valley Computer Lab, also known as the Community Technology Center and housed in Grafton County Senior Citizens Council's Center for Elder Services for the past nine years, is moving to the Upper Valley Senior Center at a reduced size and scope. After a brief transitional period, four public access computers will be available in a small conference room within the Senior Center. Limited access is still available within an office at the Senior Center. Call the Center at 603 448-4213 for further information about hours and computer availability. Online Learning There are many resources on the web for online learning; some sites listed below offer free courses and self-paced tutorials, some charge for their courses, some are degree-granting institutions. Some sites offer courses with mentors who confer with you about the work you are doing; some offer self-paced tutorials that you work through on your own. Visit our Online Learning page to find out more.
